As previously reported by rAVe, four gigantic Mitsubishi Diamond Vision screens hang 90 feet (27.5 meters) high above their new football stadium in Dallas, Texas.

As we all know, Texas prides itself on everything being "bigger in Texas" and these screens are no exception -- they’re known there as "GodzillaVision."

During the inaugural game at the new stadium, a kicker hit one of the screens with a booming kick. Players were stunned by the interruption, and can be seen in the video eyeing the screen with some hesitation, shaking their heads in disbelief as they recognized no rule exists in American football for "screen deflection." A challenge flag was thrown, but ignored by referees.

The Cowboys team owner Jerry Jones spent more than $40 million on the screens as part of the $1.2 billion construction, but now (according to ESPN) Jones does not want to cough up the $2 million more needed to raise the screens higher.

TV commentators suggest the kicker aimed deliberately for the new screens, because the height was set despite the concern expressed by kickers (known as "punters" who often "punt" the ball high and deep in a defensive action.)

The stadium is used also for concerts. Concert organizers say the band U2 insists on the current screen positioning for their October gig in the Dallas stadium.  League officials have now decided when the ball hits the screen, the play will be considered a do-over... until their NFL committee can finally decide how to handle screen deflections.
